How to create a luxurious bedroom

5 beautiful bedroom design tips

When preparing a property for sale, presentation is everything. From the front garden, to the kitchen, to the backyard, potential buyers will be absorbing both the highs and the lows.

Showcasing luxurious bedrooms is a major selling point.

These are spaces where the new owners will go to sleep at the end of a hectic day. It’s where their kids will form childhood memories. It’s where their favourite clothing and family heirloom jewellery will live.

So there’s pressure to make the bedrooms feel spacious and special.

Unless you’re an interior designer (or a massive Pinterest follower), the struggle to re-organise and style the bedrooms is real.

Here are 5 tips for creating luxurious bedrooms:

1. Add plush pillows

Think about the most beautiful hotel room you’ve stayed in. Chances are, it featured multiple pillows and cushions on the bed. Nothing breathes relaxation and luxury more than plush, overstuffed pillows.

Try featuring at least two pillows on each side of the bed, alongside a couple of square decorative cushions. If this takes up half the bed, you’re on the right track!

2. Declutter the space

Clutter is very distracting during house inspections. In some instances, it can also be a possible trip hazard.

Ensure the room appears clear and orderly. This is key for producing relaxing feel-good vibes. Remove any piles of books, visible extension cords, exercise equipment, or anything else that could make the room look small. If the floor looks too bare, add an element of comfort by featuring a wool or sisal style rug.

3. Create a focus

After removing clutter, select the key focus of the room. That is, the piece of furniture that attracts your eye when you first walk in.

Although it’s the obvious choice, the bed might only be the secondary focus. A luxurious velvet armchair or dark wood dresser with mirror could steal the show.

4. Review your window coverings

Curtains, shutters, or blinds can achieve so much more than blocking out street lights and early morning sunbeams. They can be utilised as a decorative feature to add elegance to a bedroom.

Consider window coverings that are professionally made to size. For an extra plush and regal look, you could add an extra metre or two. Then you can pull the curtain to the side and affix with golden or maroon rope.

5. Include greenery

Breathe life into your bedrooms by adding flowers and greenery. Depending upon the space, you could add a large fern in the corner. Or feature a vase with colourful flowers on the bedside tables. Hanging pot plants could also work well.

Bringing a touch of the outside inside the bedrooms won’t only look nice. It will also add a pleasant and inviting scent to the space.

Creating luxurious bedrooms doesn’t need to be a stressful experience. With the above tips, you’ll be on your way to creating memorable sleep spaces for potential buyers.
